The collective is founded
Kraut & Rüben is founded as a mixed collective, with the aim of bringing fresh fruit and vegetables into the neighbourhood. The vegetables arrive from the Wendland on the "Rübenexpress".
The organic scene grows
Berlin's organic food scene grows through the commitment of many people — and the Kraut & Rüben organic range grows with it.
A fresh start as a women's collective
The existing collective dissolves. Women from it carry Kraut & Rüben on as a dedicated organic wholefood shop.
36 years as a women's collective
A full-range organic wholefood shop with fruit and vegetables at its heart, rooted in the neighbourhood, building lasting partnerships with organic farms and direct suppliers.
The end of an era
47 years of collective history come to a close. The women's collective hands the shop on as of 1 June 2025.
A new team, the old tradition
Since June 2025 a new team has been running the shop and carrying the old tradition on — the supplier relationships, the range and the character of the neighbourhood all stay as they were.
